Today the Fireflies celebrated all of our hard work and accomplishments this year in 1st Grade. We had class awards, and then Mrs. Harvey and Mrs. Thomas stopped by to deliver some special academic awards. It has been a great year watching this group of Fireflies GLOW. Now, next up...SUMMER!!

One of my favorite things each year is videoing the Fireflies singing their "Hunks and Chunks" from Phonics Dance. They learn SO much about how letters work together to make sounds and words in 1st Grade. Super proud of how far this group has come this year in Reading, and this is a big part of that growth! The first Grade walked to Pitts Park for a day of FUN before we get out of school for Summer. It was a great day playing and hanging out with all of our 1st Grade Friends! Special thanks to all the parents who came with us❤ The whole school got to watch as our PTO slimed TEN teachers this morning. This was a reward earned by students for their fundraising efforts during our Moon Walk Boosterthon! Our PTO makes the most fabulous displays for our school. When the kids saw this today, they begged me to take their pictures. It reminds me of the transformation these little ones make into readers while in 1st grade. They are just about ready to fly on to 2nd grade! The Fireflies had a blast at the annual 1st Grade Teddy Bear Picnic. We even had a "Teddy Bear Daycare" after lunch! The Fireflies worked very hard on several Mother's Day projects last week, but these photos were too cute not to share here, too! The Fireflies ended our math unit on 2D and 3D shapes making models of shapes using marshmallows and toothpicks. Eating the marshmallows at the end of the project might have be the best part! |
